Eight years ago, we made history when we elected Barack Obama to be President of the United States.

And because we did, we've helped 20 million Americans gain affordable health care thanks to the Affordable Care Act. We've created more than 14 million private-sector jobs. We passed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, made it easier for young people to afford a college education, and so much more.

Samuel, you helped to make all that possible -- because you believed in the values we share as Democrats and because you worked hard every day to turn those values into reality.
