Dear Friend --
I’m so inspired by the many individuals and businesses who have
reached out and offered their help and support during these
challenging times. One of the most important things we can do right
now is to support and take care of each other.
While in-person interactions are still limited by the health order,
listed below are a few ways interested people can help their fellow
Long Beach residents:
- In partnership with We
Love Long Beach, the City is connecting community members who need
help with those who are willing and able to assist. By filling out a
Neighbor
to Neighbor Card (also available in Spanish,
Tagalog
and Khmer),
community members can share their contact information and the types of
assistance they can offer to nearby neighbors. Pre-printed cards are
available through City Council offices or can be requested here.
- Donate to the Long
Beach Coronavirus Relief Fund, which will support community-based
organizations at the frontlines of the coronavirus response in Long
Beach. You can text SupportLB to 501-55 to get started.
-
Donate
blood if you are healthy and eligible to ensure there is enough
lifesaving blood on the shelves for those who need it most.
To streamline and manage the donations and offers of assistance to
the City of Long Beach, the City has developed an online form
that can be completed by local business and community volunteers to
collect detailed information regarding the goods and services being
offered.
The new form will help the City to organize the variety of donation
offers being received such as business facility use, transportation
and delivery services, and personal protective equipment.
Additionally, donations of food and hygiene kits for persons
experiencing homelessness and offers of volunteer services in a
variety of skill areas will also be captured by the form.
Thank you all again and have a healthy weekend.
Mayor Robert Garcia
