North Carolina and the country are at a crossroads.

Last month, Republicans in our state nominated Michele Morrow, an extreme far-right candidate for the top office of public education in North Carolina. Morrow has called for violence against Democrats and supports cutting down funding for our public schools.

Now more than ever, we need leaders invested in ensuring our public schools can thrive. That starts with keeping them funded, increasing teacher pay, and keeping them safe.

As Republicans in our state work to dismantle our public education system and use our taxpayer dollars to fund private schools, it’s crucial we act NOW to elect a Democrat as Superintendent of Public Instruction.

Mo Green’s long and distinguished career in public education is a stark contrast to the extreme views of Michele Morrow. Mo has served as a school district superintendent, a chief executive for a large foundation that awards grants to support public education, and a school board attorney.

Like Mo, I also began my career in public service in education, serving as a Commissioner for the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Board. I could not be more confident of Mo’s ability to improve our public school system. This election is crucial for the future of our public schools.
