News from Representative Lauren Underwood

April 16, 2024

Hi John,

Did you know that the United States is one of the most dangerous countries in the developed world to give birth?

5 years ago, I launched the Black Maternal Health Caucus with my colleague, Representative Alma Adams, to address one of the most urgent crises in our country today: maternal mortality.

We’ve made incredible progress to save mom’s lives in that time, and tonight, we are holding a special update call for Black Maternal Health Week 2024. And you’re invited!

Join us tonight, Tuesday, April 16 at 7:00 p.m. CT for a VIRTUAL discussion on recent federal policy updates on maternal health, and to celebrate the five-year anniversary of the Black Maternal Health Caucus.

We’ll also be joined by special guests, including HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra, HRSA Administrator Carole Johnson, and a representative from Vice President Kamala Harris’s office! The call will also feature remarks from Senator Cory Booker (NJ), Senator Raphael Warnock (GA) and Senator Laphonza Butler (CA).

Click here to RSVP, and feel free to share with others who may be interested. And if you’d like to submit a question to be answered during the Q&A portion of the call, please email it to [email protected].

Talk to you soon!
