Friend,

Did you hear that Speaker Mike Johnson headlined a rally with Connecticut Republicans [[link removed]] last month? He’s trying to govern the House of Representatives with one of the smallest majorities in American history (218 Republicans and 213 Democrats), so he’s looking to states like ours to flip seats from Red to Blue.

You may remember that Speaker Johnson supports banning abortion nationwide with no exceptions for rape or incest. He tried to overturn the results of the 2020 election. And he’s spent his career fighting LGBT equality, even calling same-sex marriage a “ harbinger of chaos [[link removed]] .”

I was surprised that the Speaker would come to Connecticut – a state that stands up for freedom, democracy, and equality. But I was even more surprised to see that the extremist Speaker was wholeheartedly embraced by Republicans in our state.

When I started running for office, Republicans in Connecticut were different from Republicans across the country. To be sure, we’ve always had our share of disagreements. But we could find common ground on, say, the importance of preserving democracy. Sadly, those days seem to be over. Republicans in Connecticut now stand lock-step with the party of Donald Trump.

Every day, I fight Speaker Johnson’s extremist agenda on Capitol Hill. Now, I need your help fighting that agenda here in Connecticut. Will you chip in $24 so that we can keep Connecticut Blue in 2024? [[link removed]]
