Friends With Paws to welcome therapy dogs at Nutter Fort Primary School and West Fairmont Middle School tomorrow

NUTTER FORT PRIMARY SCHOOL
WHO: Representatives from the Office of First Lady Cathy Justice, Harrison County Schools Superintendent Ms. Dora Stutler, Nutter Fort Primary School Principal Jennifer Oliverio, Diversified Energy Legal Project Manager Ashley Batton, local officials.
WHAT: Introduction of Eli, a male Golden Retriever, who is the 24th therapy dog to be placed as part of First Lady Cathy Justice's Friends With Paws initiative.
The Friends With Paws program is a partnership between the Governor’s Office, West Virginia Communities In Schools Nonprofit, and the West Virginia Department of Education. Therapy dogs will be placed in CIS program schools where students are disproportionately affected by poverty, substance misuse, or other at-risk situations, and are in the greatest need of a support animal. The dogs will serve as a healthy and friendly outlet for these students to address trauma and other social-emotional issues.

WEST FAIRMONT MIDDLE SCHOOL
WHO: Representatives from the Office of First Lady Cathy Justice, Marion County Schools Superintendent Dr. Donna Heston, West Fairmont Middle School Principal June Haught, Marion County School Board Members, WVU Medicine Communications Specialist Heather Bonecutter, local officials.
WHAT: Introduction of Opera, a female Labrador Retriever, who is the 25th therapy dog to be placed as part of First Lady Cathy Justice's Friends With Paws initiative.
