Hi John,
In the aftermath of Hurricane Otis, a climate-charged disaster that struck Mexico's western coast on October 25th, 2023, thousands of families have been in urgent need as they face the loss of their homes and limited access to food. The most severely impacted are Black and Indigenous families residing in historically underserved communities.
Specifically, an impacted town known as Acapulco has one of the largest populations of Afromexicans in M?xico, and these Black communities (both rural and urban) are sorely underserved.
Black Lives Matter has been working with local organizers within our network, who are based in Acapulco, and Global Exchange, a human rights organization, to carry out important initiatives to address the aftermath of the hurricane.
Your contribution, whether $6 or any amount you can spare, will play a significant role in establishing a mobile kitchen. This kitchen will be a lifeline, sourcing food for Afro-Mexican families impacted by Hurricane Otis.
We appreciate your help. Thanks, John.
In love and solidarity,
Black Lives Matter
