John,MSNBC summed up Speaker Mike Johnson and former President Donald Trump’s press conference on “election security” like this:

House Speaker Mike Johnson and Donald Trump are pushing a ban on non-citizen voting, which (a) almost never happens; and (b) is already illegal.

When top-level elected officials hold press conferences that undermine public confidence in our elections, by highlighting risks that are already under control, fundamental principles of democracy are at stake.

Election security has always been a top priority for me, and the policies that we already have in place are working. The Brennan Center, a law non-profit, found just 30 suspected noncitizen votes amid 23.5 million votes in 2016.

That’s less than .0001% of votes cast.

Even President Trump’s own election integrity commission disbanded without releasing evidence of voter fraud.

The bottom line is this: our elections are safe and secure.

The problem is that the disinformation activists are getting louder and they’re not going to stop. We must counteract their false information with the truth.
