** Scientists say Antarctic ice melt is inevitable, implying "dire" climate change consequences.

Experts say rapid ice melt will occur no matter how much we cut carbon emissions. Previous studies led researchers to believe that the ice sheets would collapse over the course of centuries, but this report shows that almost nothing can slow the melting in the next 80 years.

Their report describes how melted ice sheets of west Antarctica would push up the sea level by 5 meters, which may force some coastal cities to be completely abandoned.

After Iran launched a large airstrike against Israel over the weekend, world leaders are urging Israel not to retaliate. Almost all of Iran's missiles and drones were intercepted and shot down by Israel and its allies, including the U.S., Britain, and France.

Iran's attack comes as the Israel-Hamas war surpasses the six-month mark. In Gaza, Israeli warplanes are continuing to conduct airstrikes on Rafah, one of the last places of refuge for the Palestinian people.
