Hi John,
UE Research and Education Fund’s Worker-To-Worker Exchange Program is around the corner and we couldn’t be more excited! We’ve gathered workers from across the country: rank and file UE union members from Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts, Virginia, Kentucky, Illinois, and California. Now we need your help to bring them to Mexico in May to build international solidarity with our fellow workers across the border.
Our worker-to-worker exchanges help workers in all countries understand that their fight is one and the same, and that the only way to ensure good jobs in one country is to demand good jobs in all countries. We believe that the fight for workers’ rights is international and intersectional. By standing together in solidarity across borders, we’re fighting racism, xenophobia, and dehumanization wherever they arise.
UE Research and Education Fund’s Worker-to-Worker Exchange is a life-changing experience, but it doesn’t come cheap. Our members will spend a week exchanging their knowledge and personal stories with our allies at the Frente Auténtico del Trabajo (Authentic Workers’ Front), an independent labor union representing workers across Mexico. Together, they will build essential skills like power analysis, learn about the political landscape for unions in both countries, and develop a deeper understanding of the human cost of employers’ nationalist rhetoric.
Here’s where we need your help. The cost of sending our Worker-To-Worker Exchange cohort to Mexico is 30 percent higher than we anticipated. An anonymous donor has pledged matching funds to help defray this cost. We need to raise $3,500 by May 1 to meet our donor match and to ensure our worker-leaders can access this transformative experience. Can we count on your support?

In solidarity,
Kari Thompson
