News media in the US is in a dire state. Just a handful of conglomerates own the vast majority of news outlets nationwide. With them comes elitist narratives, hawkish perspectives, and a total lack of imagination on what a better future for all could be. FAIR might be small, but we’re not afraid to dream big—for a better future for journalism, for democracy, for everyone.
As news outlets funded by defense manufacturers, oil companies and greedy politicians cheer on devastating wars, downplay the climate crisis and both-sides threats to the very core of our democracy, FAIR stands up for the truth. And we’ve been doing it for nearly four decades.
As I’ve said, during these difficult financial times, we need all the help we can get. $20,000 is a necessary goal, but it’s the bare minimum. The more we are able to raise, the closer we can get to getting our finances on track for this year.
Our goal is not just to continue this work but to ramp it up. We need resources to do that.
