Friends —

Yesterday my campaign submitted 30,000 signatures to officially put my name on the ballot for U.S. Senate.

Elissa Slotkin

Here in Michigan, you need 15,000 signatures in order to place your name on the ballot for U.S. Senate. But here on Team Slotkin, we like to go the extra mile — so we decided to collect 30,000, the maximum number that the state permits a candidate to turn in. It’s a massive achievement, and a real sign of grassroots momentum.

First, and most importantly, I want to thank everyone who signed a petition or volunteered to help collect signatures—much like everything else in this campaign, it doesn’t happen without you. That includes a powerhouse volunteer group in Lansing that has helped me collect signatures in each of my elections since I first ran for office, as well as folks from all 13 Michigan congressional districts who put in the hours at farmers markets and community events all over the state.

Submitting our signatures and getting on the ballot is a big milestone in this race, and the unofficial start of a new phase in our campaign. The next one comes shortly after the April 23, 2024 filing deadline, when all of the signatures have been verified to confirm who officially makes the ballot. So I want to take a few minutes to tell you about my decision to run for Senate in the first place, and why your support is so important in our success.

I’m running for Senate because I believe that we need a new generation of leaders that knows this job is about serving your country, not serving yourself.

The truth is, we all know America is going through something right now. We seem to be living from crisis to crisis. But there are certain things that should be really simple:

Like living a middle-class life in the state that invented the middle class.

Like making things in America so that we’re in control of our own economic security.

Like protecting our children from the things that are truly harming them.

And preserving our rights and our democracy so that our kids can live their version of the American dream.

I believe most of us share those core values, and yesterday, with 30,000 of my fellow Michiganders by my side, we started down the path to proving it.

As one of just two open competitive seats and a must-win for Democrats to keep the Senate, our race is attracting a lot of attention from national Republicans, including Donald Trump. Over the next 7 months, the attacks will only get nastier, the scrutiny more intense, and the stakes more pressing.

That is why I would love it if you would consider donating $3 or whatever you can to my campaign today.
