John, I hope you're doing well and staying safe. It's not always easy. But every day I'm hearing remarkable examples of our volunteers' inventiveness, resilience, and persistence. You keep me going.
When Shannon Watts started Moms Demand Action seven years ago, I wondered how I could get involved here in Texas. Our vision was to create a national network of communities united to end gun violence. Now, in the face of difficult and uncertain times, we're returning to our digital roots to ensure the continuation of our work, and most importantly, the safety of our volunteers. You can join them today as a member of the Gun Sense Action Network (GSAN) to volunteer from the safety of your home.
Our GSAN volunteers are at the forefront of the campaigns that we run across the country — making phone calls to drive action and welcome supporters like you into the movement. Right now, we're fighting against the NRA's fear-mongering in the face of COVID-19 and supporting community partners to help those most impacted by the pandemic. We're also continuing to fight gun violence throughout the country by reaching out to voters, advocating for gun safety, and working to block harmful gun bills and the NRA's dangerous agenda. With GSAN, you can do it all from the comfort of your own home.

Moms Demand Action started out with digital advocacy, through Facebook groups and video calls; for our volunteers, organizing online is our bread and butter. We may be separated by physical distance, but we're still finding ways to come together.
Here's a few examples of what we've been up to:
- Virtual Advocacy Days. Last month, we organized two virtual advocacy days — one in Minnesota and one in California. We used social media to amplify our efforts, and organized face-to-face Zoom meetings with key legislators; in Minnesota, more than 200 activists participated!
- Local Organizing. Local Moms Demand Action chapters in all 50 states have embraced online organizing to come together, provide trainings, and organize activities ranging from sewing cloth face masks for health workers to educating the community on safe storage of firearms.
- Voter Registration. The Students Demand Action volunteers have been especially active, with many of them signing up for our online trainings to register voters with an eye toward November.
Each day, we're learning more and more about how to maintain a sense of community and meet the needs of people struggling with various sources of stress during this pandemic. As we continue to reckon with and adjust to our current circumstances, I urge you to take care of yourself and your loved ones as a first priority.
Thank you for being a part of this movement. We'll get through this together.
Sincerely,
Stephanie Lundy
