I have some incredible news to share: Maine has officially joined the National Popular Vote Compact!
And, John, I can’t overstate the huge role that Common Cause members like you played in securing this landmark victory. From writing and calling lawmakers to donating in support of our work – none of this would have been possible without your help.
But our work isn’t done just yet. Now, our team at Common Cause is focusing all of our efforts toward using this momentum to pass NPV in Michigan in the coming weeks.
John, if we successfully bring Michigan on board this year, only 46 electoral votes will stand between you, me, and the solution to our Electoral College problem. That gap was 134 votes just 10 years ago! But finally, after a decade of slow and steady progress, victory is in sight.
It’s clear that our strategy to pass NPV works: we identify states where we can win, then we pull out all the stops and focus our nationwide grassroots efforts to get it done. Just look at our track record: last year, we passed NPV in Minnesota – and before that, we passed NPV in Colorado, New Mexico, Delaware, and Oregon too!
