Gretchen Whitmer: Will you chip in before midnight to elect Dem govs?

We’re only months away from one of the most consequential elections of our lifetimes, and one day away from the DGA’s critical April mid-month deadline. In just a moment, I’m going to ask you to make a double-matched donation to the DGA before this crucial deadline. But first, I want to tell you exactly what’s on the line this November.

Donald Trump has clinched the nomination and will be the Republican nominee for president. Now, his far-right, megadonor allies across the United States are already spending millions to attack Democratic governors and candidates on the airwaves and destroy our blue firewall.

But with Washington gridlocked, governors like me are our last line of defense against attacks on our most fundamental rights as citizens. GOP governors and conservative-majority legislatures are trying to suppress the vote, undermine gun violence prevention efforts, enact abortion bans, and stop Democratic progress at any cost. To put it simply, the stakes of this election are extraordinarily high, and we just can’t afford to lose our momentum now – but I’m worried that we’re going to fall short of this essential goal.
