Jack, like millions of Americans, I live in a state that will not be competitive this fall—big, blue New York.

It's easy to become disengaged living in a blue state. Candidates don't come to visit, reporters don't camp out here, and we're not bombarded by ads 24-7. Unfortunately, that leads too many of us to think that there's nothing we can do to help. There is, though—and running a Get Out The Vote operation with volunteers from all 50 states is exactly what Daily Kos is here to do in an election year.

Daily Kos is not like other news outlets—we're much more than that. We're an activism hub and online community, and a big part of our work this year will be recruiting volunteers to take action from home to elect Democrats up and down the ballot across the country.

One of the most popular actions that we participate in provides people who live all over the country with the opportunity to write postcards to drop-off voters in swing states, i.e., people who typically vote Democrat, but who don't vote in every election. This type of activity gives people everywhere—in blue states like New York, red states like Wyoming, and even swing state volunteers who may feel more comfortable doing GOTV work from home—the opportunity to make a real impact on the election.

This sort of work isn't easy, though, and it isn't cheap. Between staff time, opportunity costs from not running more lucrative types of content, and regular expenses like online tools, we could effectively spend over $100,000 on an effort like this. That's why I'm writing to you today.

Daily Kos has a goal to recruit 100,000 volunteers to help Get Out The Vote this fall. This is a hugely ambitious goal, but we did it in 2020, and we can't win in 2024 by doing any less. Can you please chip in $20.24 right now to help offset the costs of our 2024 GOTV campaign?
