This nation was an entirely different place in 1864. In case it’s been a minute since you’ve been in a history class:
➡️ Women were still over FIFTY years away from gaining the right to vote
➡️ Child labor was still legal
➡️ Cars were 22 years away from invention
➡️ Approximately 90% of Black people in the US were enslaved and an entire CENTURY away from gaining access to a full range of protected civil rights
➡️ The Civil War was raging in the South
➡️ The 1864 presidential winner was none other than Abraham Lincoln with running mate and avowed racist Andrew Johnson
➡️ Arizona was still 48 years away from gaining statehood, and it wasn’t the only one either — Nebraska, Colorado, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Alaska, and Hawaii weren’t a part of our union yet
This draconian ban doesn’t represent Arizonans or this nation today. Mobilizing a pro-choice majority in every corner of Arizona is vital to enshrining abortion rights across the state for good this November. So please, pitch in $15 or more right now to help us get there. [[link removed]]

The Arizonans who are impacted the most by this extreme ban wouldn’t have a say in our democracy whatsoever when it was written. Choosing when and how to grow your family is a deeply personal decision, and everyone deserves to make the choice that’s best for them.
