Endorsement Alert: CA Attorney General Bonta

Hi John,
Housing is one of the top issues in San Francisco. In District 5, we have been faced with 4 years of housing obstructionism - resulting in empty parking lots and car washes that could have been housing for families, nurses, and teachers.
We need to build over 80,000 units of housing by 2031 to meet our state mandated housing production goals. And to do that, we need new leadership in District 5.
In light of this, I am honored to announce that CA Attorney General Rob Bonta - a housing champion & the first Filipino American elected to the State legislature - has endorsed my campaign for San Francisco District 5 Supervisor!

"We are facing a housing crisis in San Francisco - and all over our state - and we need leaders who will act with urgency to address it. Bilal is part of a new generation of pro-housing progressives dedicated to ensuring we are building housing at all levels," said Attorney General Bonta in a statement today. "I am proud to endorse Bilal Mahmood for Supervisor because San Francisco needs someone of his intelligence, integrity, and collaborative spirit to meet this moment."
Attorney General Bonta has been a role model of mine for years. He authored legislation that outlawed baseless evictions and capped statewide rent increases. And importantly at this moment, he is leading the fight to ensure cities are complying with their Housing Element and state mandated housing production goals.
Attorney General Bonta's leadership for the AAPI community is also renowned, especially as the former Chair of the AAPI Caucus, and so his endorsement here is equally meaningful for me.
"I personally know the importance of representation to our communities," said Bonta. "With Bilal as potentially the first Muslim American elected to the Board of Supervisors, I know how impactful that will be in elevating the community's concerns."

Sincerely,

Bilal Mahmood
