Dear Georgian,

This weekend, Iran launched an attack on Israel. The time to express ironclad support for Israel is now. Peace in the Middle East depends on the assurance that there is not now, or ever, any gap in the brotherhood between Israel and the USA. Biden’s mixed messages and weak posture failed to deter Iran.

Yesterday was National Pecan Day! Georgia is the largest pecan supplier in the nation, harvesting nearly 88 million pounds of pecans annually, which accounts for over one-third of the total pecan production in the United States.

I will continue to use my position as Vice Chair of the House Agriculture Committee to advocate for pecan growers and Georgia agriculture in Congress.

Honoring Col. Ralph Puckett, Jr.

Our nation lost a great patriot and Georgian last week. Col. Ralph Puckett Jr. was the last living Medal of Honor recipient from the Korean War.

He was a fearless man who fought off five assaults by enemy forces even when outnumbered 10-1. He was a blessing to all who knew him.

Giving Our Farmers a Voice and a Choice

Farmers are the best stewards of our land, but Biden's EPA continuously seeks to impose burdensome regulations that prevent our farmers from doing their jobs.

I cosponsored the EPA Accountability to Farm Country Act, which requires the USDA and farm stakeholders to review rules and regulations proposed by the EPA that may impact the agricultural sector and provide recommendations on how to limit the impact. If the EPA fails to implement the guidance from the panel, the rules will not be finalized.

We can't let the EPA continue to implement its misguided rules unchecked. The USDA and our farmers have a right to input regarding legislation that affects their industry and our food supply.

Joining the House Rules Committee

Last week, Speaker Mike Johnson appointed me to serve on the House Rules Committee.

It is our sworn duty as members of Congress to govern, and I look forward to serving on the Rules Committee to help advance legislation that benefits the American people.

I will continue to serve as Vice Chair of the House Agriculture Committee and as a member of the House Armed Services Committee and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, which are all vitally important committees to our state and district.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution | Medal of Honor recipient Ralph Puckett Jr. of Columbus dies

"Ralph Puckett Jr., a retired U.S. Army colonel from Columbus who received the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions during the Korean War, died Monday. He was 97.

President Joe Biden presented the medal to Puckett in 2021, citing his efforts at capturing Hill 205 in Korea and holding it against relentless waves of Chinese counterattacks. Outnumbered by about 10 to 1, Puckett’s elite Ranger unit was overrun and hand-to-hand combat ensued.

Puckett, who was wounded in the thigh by an enemy grenade, continued calling in artillery support until enemy mortar rounds grievously injured him. He told his fellow Rangers to leave him behind, but they dragged him down the hill to safety."
