Friend,
Visit any American city, and it's easy to see: Not all neighborhoods are created equal. Some have vibrant, inviting playgrounds, lush green parks and trails, and plenty of welcoming public spaces to host a farmer's market, fair, or outdoor community gathering. Others don't.
Communities with less green space are often hotter, have worse air quality, and are more at risk to catastrophic flooding. When it rains, these spaces flood, and stormwater runoff inundates the people who live nearby.
But there's hope. By 2025, Trust for Public Land will bring our green schoolyards initiative to 20 new school districts, connecting hundreds of thousands of people to nature and to each other.
TPL's Community Schoolyards® program gives kids and entire communities Mother Nature-approved play spaces they want and need. Specially landscaped gardens filled with native plants and porous surfaces absorb stormwater and prevent flooding. Trees cool down play spaces and improve air quality.
There's a school in nearly every neighborhood, and by design, they are the place where the community gathers to play, socialize, exercise and learn.
Friend, your support will have double the impact to help create these green spaces when you make a gift from now until April 22. Can we count on you?
