Today, Trump's hush money trial begins. This is the first-ever criminal trial of a former US president.

But John, this isn’t just about hush money. This is about corrupting an election and keeping voters in the dark. And Trump shouldn’t get away with it.

Didn’t know this case was about corrupting an election? We’ll explain.

In October 2016, the infamous Access Hollywood tape was released – the tape in which Trump claimed he could brazenly sexually assault women because he’s a celebrity. And at the same time, Stormy Daniels – with whom Trump had an affair in 2006 – was considering coming forward to reveal what had happened.

Instead, she accepted a $130,000 payment from Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen in exchange for her silence. Cohen paid Daniels through a shell company to hide the payment.

Months later, after Trump’s inauguration, Trump agreed to pay Cohen $420,000 – $130,000 for Daniels and the additional funds to Cohen — in a dozen installments which were falsely called a legal retainer in Trump Organization records.

Last year, Trump was indicted on 34 felony charges over the scheme.

John, Donald Trump "repeatedly and fraudulently falsified New York business records" to conceal criminal conduct – his scheme to boost his election changes in 2016 by making hush money payments to Stormy Daniels so that she didn’t publicize their affair.

This case is a big deal, because:

– Trump’s actions may have altered the outcome of the 2016 election,
– He broke the law,
– And this could be the only trial of Trump to take place anytime soon.

But here at CREW, we believe Trump needs to be held accountable for *every* time he’s broken the law.
