MICHIGAN COALITION FOR RESPONSIBLE GUN OWNERS "Promoting safe use and ownership of firearms through education, litigation, and legislation." MONDAY E'NEWS MCRGO-PAC Survey Michigan legislative candidates running for the August 2024 primary will be sent a survey based on this draft recently approved by the MCRGO-PAC. There are no outright endorsements in the primary election. Instead, candidates are rated based on their responses to this survey. Incumbent candidates may also have their ratings adjusted based on their votes on firearms related legislation during the current legislative session. Candidates who fail to return a survey will not receive a rating or be eligible for endorsement in the general election. Endorsements for the November general election are based off of ratings from the primary election along with any bill sponsorships or votes that occur after the primary election (for incumbents). Ratings and endorsements are made by a balanced multi-partisan PAC committee with no preference shown for political affiliation. No direct bias is given to incumbents over their challengers although incumbents with a clear pro-gun or anti-gun legislative history will have their ratings adjusted as a result of that history. The process is objective and straightforward. MCRGO-PAC operates independently to protect that process from undue influence both from within and outside of MCRGO. The MCRGO-PAC survey consists of 10 Yes/No questions. The questions reflect core values of the pro-Second Amendment community along with contemporary policy issues that may be voted on in the next legislative session. The simple one page survey with 10 questions is designed to increase the response rate. Questions are given YES/NO answers to reflect how legislative votes are conducted and to avoid political nuance. Because MCRGO is a state organization, MCRGO-PAC is focused on candidates for state office, primarily the Michigan Legislature. MCRGO-PAC may endorse for other state offices. MCRGO-PAC does not endorse for local offices or judicial elections other than the Michigan Supreme Court. Federal candidates are endorsed by NRA-PVF. The image above of the draft survey is for informative purposes only. It should not be completed and returned to MCRGO. Candidates who have filed for the Michigan House of Representatives for the August 2024 primary will be mailed an official copy after the April 23 filing deadline. MCRGO-PAC only rates and endorses candidates for state offices.
