Hi, it’s Jenny, Tim Kaine’s Finance Director, coming to you with an urgent update about the state of our campaign:

In March, this campaign raised more money online from grassroots donors like you than any other month since Tim Kaine entered elected office … ever. That includes the months leading up to Election Day 2018, the last time Tim was on the ballot.

In fact, thanks to you, our campaign received 11,695 grassroots online contributions in March — 4,000 more individual donations than any other month since we launched this campaign.

Here’s the bad news: Since April began, our fundraising pace has fallen off a cliff. And here’s what’s worse: I told Tim that given our MASSIVE success in March, we could expect similar results as we approach the election.
Here’s the bottom line: We are WAY behind where we need to be to reach our fundraising goal for April. That’s why we set a goal of raising $50,000 before our mid-month deadline of April 15th (that’s tomorrow!).

Look, I don’t like having to write these emails. I’d much rather share positive updates, and there’s so much great stuff happening out on the campaign trail ( just check out these pics of Tim closing out his kickoff tour with a rally in Newport News [[link removed]] ). But the truth is, what we’ll be able to accomplish by November is in the numbers — and ours do NOT look good right now.
