Despite the ease with which extremist politicians pass the laws, abortion bans affect real people - and the consequences can be life or death.
A woman’s water breaks at 18 weeks pregnant. The doctors determine the pregnancy had zero chance of survival. The doctors told her she could have an abortion, or risk her life by waiting for a natural miscarriage that may never come. She chose an abortion, but the hospital’s legal department stepped in and said no.
She then traveled from state to state, risking blood loss, infection, and death, hoping to find a doctor that the government would ALLOW to save her life.
That’s just one true story, John. There are thousands of others just like it.
These are the stakes. Either we pass Amendment 4 and protect abortion rights in Florida once and for all, or women and girls suffer at the hand of government overreach.
