Not so long ago, the federal government shut its doors, turned off its
lights, and refused to let most of its workers come to work to do their
jobs. Some were forced to work without pay and struggled with daily transportation expenses to get back and forth to
a job that was no longer paying them.
We know what it's like to suddenly be without the resources we need to care for ourselves and our families.
As the coronavirus outbreak continues to devastate communities and our economy, many private industry workers are faced with layoffs and extreme financial instability. Our union siblings, who supported us during the longest government shutdown in history, need our help.
AFGE District 14 and District 14 Y.O.U.N.G. have partnered to raise money
to provide food, grocery store cards, and other needed items to those who
are affected by this global pandemic. Monies collected will be donated to
the Community Services Agency of the Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO, a non-profit whose mission is to improve the lives of labor workers and their
families by meeting their human and social services needs in life, work,
and family.
Please donate to our GoFundMe campaign to provide food and other needed items to our first responders, hotel
workers, bartenders, and other industry workers. Food, money, and supplies
will be distributed through the Community Services Agency.
