Memphis-Midsouth DSA
Dear comrade,
I am writing to update you about several things related to the Memphis-Midsouth DSA Chapter.
The most timely is:
WORKPLACE ORGANIZING COMMITTEE MEETING
- The first meeting of our chapter's new Workplace Organizing Committee is happening Monday, April 15th at 6pm at RP Tacks. Members and non-members are welcome to attend.
- The purpose of this committee broadly is to support efforts at unionization and worker cooperative formation in the Midsouth region. Our Steering Committee strongly encourages attendance to help shape this work in its early stages.
REPORT FROM APRIL 9 GENERAL MEETING
Next, our April General Meeting occurred on the 9th, and you can find the meeting minutes here.
This meeting voted to do four important things for our chapter.
- Form the Workplace Organizing Committee under the auspices of our chapter.
- Form an Ad Hoc Committee for the Purpose of Passing Legislation during Memphis’ Election Timeframe (first meeting tbd).
- Elect Alexandra Farmer as our chapter's Electoral Coordinator.
- Elect Ben Curtis as our chapter's Political Education Coordinator
MEMPHIS CITY COUNCIL
Here is a link so you can read over City Council agendas and watch their proceedings. Our Steering Committee encourages our members and Memphians generally to supervise those elected to rule in this city.
