It’s no secret that Congress is a pretty dysfunctional place. Far too often, partisan politics takes precedence over what’s best for the American people. You would think, then, that when something real gets accomplished, it would be big news. But in reality, some of the most important accomplishments end up flying under the radar. So when I helped save seniors across Kansas hundreds of dollars in insulin every year, there weren’t exactly wall-to-wall cable news headlines. When the bipartisan infrastructure law I fought for kickstarted over 300 construction projects here in Kansas, it didn’t trend on Twitter. And when we brought in millions of dollars to fund rural broadband expansion in rural communities, no, the New York Times didn’t send a camera crew to our office to cover it. The fact is, I’m proud of my record of cutting through the partisanship and delivering real progress for Kansas families. But we can’t expect anyone to get that message out for us — it’s up to us, this team, to reach every single voter and show them what we’ve gotten done.
