Team,

Last month, the Supreme Court heard arguments in a case about mifepristone, a safe, effective, FDA-approved abortion pill that has provided a lifeline to women seeking reproductive care.

Before this case was brought to the Supreme Court, it was filed by radical, anti-abortion activists in a federal court in Texas — a court overseen by a single judge, who just so happens to be one of the most right-wing judges in the country. They knew that if they brought the case right to his courtroom, they could have a shot at banning mifepristone nationwide.

This practice is known as “judge shopping” — and the good news is that Mikie has a plan to end it.

Mikie’s Stop Judge Shopping Act would require any lawsuit with national implications to be filed in district courts with more than one judge — which would make it impossible for the anti-abortion movement to unfairly tip the scales of justice in their favor.
