Hi folks! Please join us tomorrow, April 4, to chat with urban planner Peter Calthorpe, a leading density advocate who stunned Silicon Valley this year by slamming SB 50’s attempted upzoning of residential areas. Amidst COVID-19 turmoil, Peter will discuss why the legislature should end its divisive fixation on upzoning our residential neighborhoods. He’ll discuss focusing future housing in commercial corridors. (Please see teleconference call-in info at very bottom of email.) We have two big ASKS, RIGHT NOW, TODAY: 1) GIVE NOW as we raise the money we MUST have for lobbyists and expenses of fighting a hunkered-down, far less public Sacramento legislature, which will not convene this month. We ask that you donate to Livable California, today.
2) ACT BELOW against Wiener’s “2020 Wrecking Bills” that piecemeal SB 50 back into life! Send OPPOSE Letters on 2 bills whose upzoning trickery was entirely missed by Los Angeles Times & most others.
AB 725 (Wicks-Wiener) upends low-density zoning (single-family, duplex, small apartments) by weaponizing the Regional Housing Needs Assessment-RHNA. Thousands of areas decimated to absorb 25% of growth. CLICK HERE TO OPPOSE AB 902, (Wiener) ENDS single-family zoning to make way for luxury 8-plexes (not 4-plexes as LA Times misreported) in cities of 50K & up. ALL other areas will be upzoned to luxury 6-plexes or 4-plexes. Millions affected. CLICK HERE TO OPPOSE We must kill Wiener and Company’s community-blaming luxury housing bills, amidst this year’s terrible threats to our working-class & middle-class. Wiener was WRONG before, he’s DOUBLY wrong now.
Please Zoom in, or call-in on Sat. April 4, 10 am-11:30.

Livable California is a non-profit statewide group of community leaders, activists and local elected officials. We believe in local answers to the housing affordability crisis. Our robust fight requires trips to Sacramento & a lobbyist going toe-to-toe with power. Please donate generously to LivableCalifornia.org here.
