Can I share why I’m in this race, JOHN? I got my first chance to serve the people of Michigan when I was first elected as Macomb County Prosecutor.

But really, my first job where I served the people of Michigan was at the Marlinga Party Store in South Warren. That’s where I first learned the value of investing in a community, helping your neighbors, and putting in an honest day’s work.

I knew I was fated to become a politician as a kid because I was put to work slicing baloney – and I still do that as a politician to this day. All jokes aside, it’d be an honor of my life to continue serving the people of Michigan. I’ll share more in a moment, but first I have to ask if you will donate $25 or any amount before midnight? From the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office I went on to become Assistant US attorney, and most recently served as a Judge. And throughout my career, I’ve made it my mission to hold fast to my values and defend the rule of law without fear or favor.

When Republicans voted to allow oil drilling in the Great Lakes and questioned the science behind our changing climate, I stood up for our Great Lakes and I was the first prosecutor to go after sewage discharge into Lake St. Clair.

When LGBTQ+ rights were still opposed by a majority, I ensured my team reflected the wonderful diversity of our community and hired the first openly gay prosecutor to run a Major Crimes Unit in Michigan.

When abortion access was threatened, I ensured victims of rape and incest were still able to get the essential reproductive health care they needed.

When seniors were being preyed on by malicious scammers, I spearheaded Attorney General Nessel’s Elder Abuse Task Force to crack down on these crimes.

And the thing is, through each of these big wins and challenging times, I was never alone. I had the power of our community on my side, pushing the cause of justice forward, and making change possible. Now, I’m calling on folks like you to step up again today.
