Dear Friend,

I have good news for our North Texas community. The North Texas VA has acquired the Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Garland, which will now be known as the Garland VA Medical Center. I was proud to work with the VA, Baylor, Scott & White, and the City of Garland over the past year and lead the charge in Congress to get this done.

As we are now dealing with a public health crisis of an unprecedented size, we must marshal all the resources we have to beat the coronavirus, and in the near-term, this new facility will help our community as we fight the spread of COVID-19 and provide care for those who need it. I want to thank the Veterans’ Health Administration, Dr. Stephen Holt and Kendrick Brown at the North Texas VA and Baylor, Scott and White for helping to get this done.

In the long term, this is a victory for our veterans and the City of Garland. I'm proud of our North Texas community as everyone involved has rolled up their sleeves to get this agreement across the finish line. The new facility will now create thousands of jobs for North Texans and help serve 184,000 veterans who deserve access to quality care.
