VIDEO OF THE DAY: Lara Trump exposes fatal flaw in MAGA's RNC takeover
Donald Trump's super qualified and in no way nepotistic daughter-in-law Lara Trump hit the Newsmax airwaves to brag about the Trump team's recent takeover of the Republican National Committee, saying "we are one combined effort with the campaign... there is no daylight between the two of us — the Trump campaign and the RNC — and that goes to the advantage of Donald Trump." The problem if you're a down-ballot Republican? The RNC has just one goal: to elect and protect their serially indicted cult leader. Brian Tyler Cohen and Marc Elias break down the ramifications of this merger and what it means for the future of Congress.

Jamie Raskin slams "gullible" GOP Rep. James Comer for pushing foreign disinformation
Representative Jamie Raskin’s office slammed House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer on Friday, demanding that he explain why the leaders of the sham impeachment probe of President Biden are failing to share evidence with other members of the committee. Hmmm, could it be the evidence isn't actually, you know, evidence at all? Despite months of digging and breathless promises of imminent testimony that will blow the case wide open, the only thing Comer and his fellow MAGA goons on the committee have proven is just how bad they are at their jobs and how susceptible they are to foreign disinformation campaigns. Also, maybe don't bring checkers to a chess match. Especially if Jamie Raskin is sitting across the table.

Insurrectionist Republican brings bad behavior to Washington
Eric Wilson for Congress: Wisconsin Republican Derrick Van Orden is a bad guy, with bad behavior, and bad politics. He’s made headlines for getting drunk at work and verbally abusing his pages, threatening librarians, and even throwing profane tantrums in hearings. Oh, and he was there for Trump’s January 6th rally in DC and is a MAGA extremist to boot. It’s time to send this cranky man-child home and replace him with a responsible adult, and a progressive one at that. If you agree, then Eric Wilson is your guy. He has vowed to fight for Medicare for All and refuses to take corporate money. Van Orden has no such principles, and has amassed himself a huge $1.6 million dark money war chest. Will you chip in to elect Eric Wilson and flip this critical battleground seat blue?
Trump's viral hug with African-American supporter at Chick-fil-A was staged...with a MAGA operative
"A video of a Trump supporter who hugged the presumptive Republican nominee and shouted out support during a visit to an Atlanta Chick-fil-A turned out to be a Republican operative according to social media posts reviewed by MeidasTouch. Nothing about Trump or his campaign is authentic. Every event is carefully set up ahead of time and staged. They all fit into the same pattern every single time. On every road trip to an event or rally, the campaign sets up an excursion to a fast food restaurant either before or after his speech. It is all supposed to craft the image that there is a groundswell of spontaneous support for Trump from the grassroots. But it's all staged." Well color us shocked, folks.

Louisiana Supreme Court says priests have a "property right" not to be sued for sexual abuse
"When you think of the Due Process Clause of the Constitution, which says that no one shall be 'deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law,' what rights do you imagine this language protecting? Perhaps the right not to be imprisoned by the government without a fair trial, or the right to be free of unjustified police confiscations of your belongings. According to a 4-3 Louisiana Supreme Court majority in Bienvenu v. Diocese of Lafayette, though, a due process right you may have failed to consider is the right of priests and their enablers not to be held accountable by victims of their sexual abuse." Despite the state's legislature unanimously passing the Louisiana Child Victims Act in 2021, giving sexual abuse survivors a three-year “look-back window” to file lawsuits that would have otherwise been barred by the statute of limitations, the state Supreme Court "found an absolute property right in the institutions’ right not to be sued," whatever the hell that means. "The decision essentially strikes down the look-back window, leaving survivors once again powerless to hold their abusers accountable. It is a harrowing example of the legal system’s ability to obscure the nature of disputes and turn survivors’ real-life trauma into euphemistic abstractions, while at the same time protecting powerful institutions in the name of otherwise ephemeral property rights."
Despite daunting to-do list, GOP reps laser focused on...home appliances
The brutal war in Gaza, Russia's ongoing invasion in Ukraine, rebuilding the Key Bridge and restoring our critical eastern seaboard shipping channels, an incredibly complex border migration situation, record-setting increases in global temperatures month after month after month, artificial intelligence and the myriad threats the trailblazing technology poses to democracy itself, an autocratic party leader openly espousing fascist ideals — take your pick, the Republican-controlled House has plenty of challenges on its plate and not nearly enough time to address them all. So it's curious and, well, comically disheartening to see what's actually on the docket next week for Speaker Johnson and his clown caucus to discuss: H.R. 6192 — Hands Off Our Home Appliances Act, H.R. 7673 — Liberty in Laundry Act, H.R. 7645 — Clothes Dryers Reliability Act, H.R. 7637 — Refrigerator Freedom Act, H.R. 7626 — Affordable Air Conditioning Act, and last but not least H.R. 7700 — Stop Unaffordable Dishwasher Standards Act. Man, Trump is gonna be pissed when he finds out they aren't doing anything about water pressure!

Aaron Rodgers floats idiotic JFK Jr. – Hillary Clinton conspiracy theory
For those wondering what mindnumbingly stupid conspiracy theory New York Jets quarterback and do-your-own-research guru Aaron Rodgers might float next, the wait is over. If you have "Hilary had JFK Jr. killed" on your Concussions Have Consequences Bingo card, congratulations! Rodgers, who was reportedly on RFK Jr.'s vice presidential shortlist (terrifying, we know), appeared on the "I Can Fly" podcast and dropped his latest eye-popping hot take, suggesting that then-First Lady Hillary Clinton, who was planning her run for an open New York Senate at the time, might have somehow been connected to John F. Kennedy's fatal plane crash in 1999 to keep the political scion out of the race. Ooookaaay, Aaron. Whatever you say, bud.
