Friend —

First thing's first -- please continue to take care of yourself! If you can, stay home, keep washing your hands, and avoid touching your face.

Sadly, over the past two weeks, the anti-choice movement has launched a fresh attack on our reproductive freedom.

Instead of helping people stay safe and stay home, anti-choice politicians are forcing people to stay pregnant during a global pandemic by closing clinics.

Here's the situation:

As of today, anti-choice electeds in Alabama, Ohio, Texas, Tennessee, Iowa, and Oklahoma have all used the coronavirus crisis as an excuse to ban abortion, claiming that it is an "elective procedure." Another five states have signaled that they may follow suit.

Abortion care, birth control, emergency contraceptives, and hormone therapy are not elective. They are essential and urgent healthcare services, and saying otherwise is an obvious attempt at advancing the anti-choice agenda.
How we're fighting back:

We cannot allow our physical distancing to let these attacks go unchecked.

Add Your Name: No Abortion Bans During This Pandemic!
In partnership with the Women's March and Daily Kos, we've launched a crucial petition targeting the Governors who want to force people to stay pregnant during a global pandemic.
Looking ahead:

Unfortunately, this is only the beginning. During this collective crisis, our mission must be to work toward a future that doesn't resemble the past.

Now more than ever, it's clear that the most dangerous attacks on reproductive freedom come from the state and local levels. Electing prochoice candidates in every single race is the only solution.
Thank you for being a prochoice champion, even when it's incredibly difficult.

In solidarity,
Heidi L. Sieck
