Samaritan’s Purse Puts Up Field Hospital
Christian Ministry Samaritan’s Purse Puts Up Field Hospital in New York City’s Central Park
By: Brittany Raymer

Samaritan’s Purse, an international disaster response ministry, recently set up one of its mobile field hospitals in New York City’s Central Park, in coordination with Mount Sinai Health System, in an effort to help support the city’s COVID-19 response.

The ministry had already established a mobile field hospital in one of Italy’s epicenters, but there was one more field hospital that could still be deployed. For Edward Graham, who serves on the disaster response team and is the son of Samaritan’s Purse CEO Franklin Graham, and others watching the coverage, the news coming out of New York was concerning. As a trained engineer, Edward knew that New York would be on a similar path with Italy.

President Trump Extends Social Distancing to April 30, Wants Deaths Under 200,000
By: Zachary Mettler

On Sunday March 29, President Donald Trump held a press conference from the Rose Garden at the White House to update the nation on the government’s response to the coronavirus pandemic. President Trump announced that the social distancing guidelines would be extended to at least April 30, and that he believes it would be a victory if deaths from the coronavirus are kept between 100,000 to 200,000.

The United States recently overtook China in having the most confirmed cases of COVID-19, though there are questions about whether China has been accurately reporting its data. Some have even suggested that the reason China’s number of confirmed cases has leveled off so sharply is because they have ceased testing people for the virus.

By: Jeff Johnston

Idaho Governor Brad Little signed two bills into law Monday, March 30, the Fairness in Women’s Sports Act and the Vital Statistics Act.
