John,
I hope you are doing well, and staying safe and healthy. These are not simple times.
Even as we stay apart, it is more important than ever to come together.
I want to share some important resources and ask for your help. We can share the burden across our community by doing what we can while staying safe and ensuring we following the guidelines to slow the spread of the virus.
Donate Blood
Across Michigan, hospitals are facing a critical lack of blood donations. Due to the coronavirus, most blood drives have been cancelled leading to a significant loss for patients. If you can, schedule an appointment with the Red Cross here.
Donate Food
In our community, there are those that cannot leave their homes to get food or are now relying on the generosity of others. Faith in Action and Meals on Wheels desperately need our help to continue their selfless work. Faith in Action and Meals on Wheels are seeking donations to help the increasing number of our neighbors who need support.
To help Faith in Action call (734) 475-3305 to drop off any donations at 603 S. Main St. Chelsea, MI 48118.
To help Meals on Wheels call (734) 475-9242.
Stay Home Stay Safe
Most importantly, we can all do our part by carefully following the Stay Home Stay Safe guidelines. I know that many of us are desperately looking for ways to contribute and feel a little control during this experience. Simply keeping our distance and staying home whenever possible is the best thing that we can do to help keep our health care workers, grocery store workers, and other essential employees and neighbors who cannot stay home safe.
Resources to Help You Right Now
My team and I have put together a Google Drive of resources ranging from where to find meals for school students and small business assistance programs to how to file for unemployment benefits and what resources are available in Washtenaw County to help you.
While these are certainly challenging times, I know we’ll get through them together.
Thank you for all you’re doing and for being part of our community.
Donna
