Friend,

While you might not think to call your Congresswoman if you're waiting on a check from the IRS or aren’t getting the right amount in Social Security benefits, my team and I are in the business of customer service and stand ready to help!

We have three offices in the district to solely focus on helping Iowans navigate issues with the federal government. We can help families and small businesses receive their full tax refunds from the IRS, assist veterans with scheduling appointments at the VA, and sort out issues with unemployment benefits. Additionally, as summer vacation rolls around, we can help you get a passport for your upcoming travel.

Check out a few of our recent wins for constituents:

  • My team helped an Iowa family process an amended return that had been stuck in processing for far too long. The family was unable to get an answer from the IRS and, after just a few weeks of working with my team, the IRS processed the amended return, and the refund was released in the correct amount.

  • An Iowan reached out to our office because the USPS had lost his green card a few months prior and replacement cards can take up to two and a half years to process. Our team was able to expedite his replacement green card.

  • An Iowa student reached out to our office because she was planning to attend a staff retreat out of the country but at the time she did not have a passport. We secured her an emergency passport appointment at a nearby agency where she obtained a new passport within a few days – just in time for her trip!

Our top priority is to serve Iowans. We will leave no stone unturned to help you! If you or someone you know is in need of assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to my office here.

Best,

Accountability for Mayorkas

This week, I questioned Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas during a House Appropriations Subcommittee hearing.

Secretary Mayorkas has long avoided acknowledging a crisis at the Southern Border, but during my questioning, he finally admitted what every American can plainly see: there is a crisis at the Southern Border. While this admission is a long time coming, he must follow through by enforcing immigration law, working to reverse Biden's executive orders that have created this crisis, and stopping illegal immigration rather than incentivizing it.

Iowans are fed up with the Biden Administration's dangerous open border policies that have turned every state into a border state. I won't give up the fight until we finally secure the border.

Watch my line of questioning here.

Iowa National Guard

I enjoyed meeting with the Adjunct Major General of the Iowa National Guard, Major General Stephen Osborn. The Iowa National Guard stands ready to serve Iowans and protect our nation. Thank you for your service!

Iowa Pork Producers

It is always great to have Iowa Pork Producers in DC! We sat down to discuss our ongoing efforts to push back against Prop 12 to protect both producers and consumers.

The Daily Iowan

It is always a pleasure to see The Daily Iowan student journalists when they are in D.C. I explained the importance of forcing TikTok to cut ties with Communist China and the impacts of Biden’s border crisis in Iowa.

Deadline Approaching: Congressional Art Competition Submissions

My office is accepting submissions for the 2024 Congressional Art Competition through April 26th, 2024! The Congressional Art Competition is a nationwide high school art competition that provides a unique opportunity for students to showcase their artistic talents.

The competition is open to high school students (9th-12th grade) who reside in or attend school in the Second Congressional District of Iowa. The winning artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year alongside other works of art from around the country.

University of Iowa Women's Basketball

Congratulations to the University of Iowa's Women's basketball team on an incredible season! It was a joy to watch Caitlin Clark – a once in a generation talent – and the rest of the Hawkeyes change the game forever. Iowa is so proud of these phenomenal women on and off the court.
