Happy Friday! After a successful Youth Opportunities Fair, my colleagues and I returned to Washington to vote on critical legislation. I want to thank all the vendors and attendees who made our Youth Opportunities Fair possible. It brings me joy to see our community invest in the next generation of leaders. Youth Opportunities Fair 

I was proud to welcome over 60 organizations and hundreds of students to my Youth Opportunities Fair! Connecting our young people to employment opportunities or volunteering strengthens our communities. I look forward to hosting more events that connect our community and empower our young people.

 Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce

I was thrilled to speak to the Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce to discuss my efforts to support small businesses in the Second District. Small businesses are the heart of our community and the engine of our economy.

Black Maternal Health Week 

April 11th-17th is recognized as Black Maternal Health Week. It is a terrible truth that Black women are still three times more likely to die from pregnancy than their white peers in the United States. I'm calling on my colleagues to pass H.R.5568, my CARE For Moms Act, to provide a comprehensive and holistic solution to our maternal mortality crisis. This legislation provides evidence-based solutions that will prevent maternal mortality, including supporting doulas, providing resources in rural areas, and ensuring that maternal health funding is distributed equitably by the federal government. The time to act is now.
