Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister Endorses Vern Buchanan



“Few members of Congress have stronger track-record supporting law enforcement”


BRANDON, FL – Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister today publicly
endorsed Congressman Vern Buchanan’s re-election campaign.



“There are few members of Congress who have a stronger track-record supporting
law enforcement than Vern Buchanan,” said Chronister. “Whether it is sponsoring
the Thin Blue Line Act or leading efforts to crack down on gang activity, Vern
understands what it takes to keep our communities safe. I appreciate the work
he puts in for the people of Hillsborough County and he has my support.”



Chronister’s endorsement comes on the heels of an independent poll released
this week showing Buchanan with a more than50-point lead

over his primary opponent, Eddie Speir.



“I so appreciate the sheriff’s support and the remarkable work he and his team
do to keep our streets safe,” said Buchanan. “Sheriff Chronister has been an
incredible resource in Congress and I look forward to continuing to partner
with him in the years ahead.”



Buchanan is the sponsor of the Thin Blue Line Act, H.R. 130

, to crack down on cop killers. Specifically, the legislation makes the murder
or attempted murder of a police officer an “aggravating” factor in death
penalty determinations. It has over 50 co-sponsors including seven from Florida.



The primary election for Congress will be held on Aug. 20.
