medical professionals to contend with coronavirus spread

Boris Lozhkin, who is also a WJC Vice president, wrote on his Facebook page:
“Any doctor – a therapist, pediatrician, dentist, ophthalmologist and even more
so an otolaryngologist – is at increased risk, even higher than the elderly and
the people with chronic diseases That is why it is so important to provide
doctors with the maximum means of protection, for them to have an opportunity to
keep on providing assistance to everyone who needs it.”

everything from us”

Some students and community members have started initiatives to bring groceries
to the elderly, including Matzot, for the upcoming holiday of Pesach, said Faina
Kukliansky, the President of the WJC-affiliated Jewish Community, in an
interview with Juedische-Allgemeine. “I am very proud of all the people who are
helping now… We still have to be careful that we won’t lose the people helping
in the social facilities to the sickness. They have to stay healthy.”

services to deliver food and supplies

All proceeds raised went to the Bulgarian Doctors’ Association to sponsor meals
to families and medical professionals in quarantine. Organization of Jews in
Bulgaria - Shalom President Dr. Alexander Oscar was one of many community
members to personally deliver food to those in quarantine.

“One of the physicians who was there to help was almost in tears,” said the Head
of School Mark Shpall. “I didn’t realize how important this was to them, and it

Pakistani court decision overturning Pearl murder conviction

A State Dept. official called the Pakistani court ruling to overturn the death
penalty for Pearl “an affront to victims of terrorism everywhere”, while the US
Commission on International Religious Freedom said it was appalled by the lack
of accountability for the Jewish journalist's murder.

Rabbi Josef Neumann, who was critically injured in the Monsey stabbing attack in
December 2019, succumbed to his wounds this week. But he will not be forgotten:
New legislation in New York, equating hate crimes with domestic terrorism, will
bear his name. May his memory be a blessing.
