John,

The Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) was first introduced in Congress in 1923. For more than 100 years, we’ve been pushing and advocating for equal rights to be guaranteed for all people, regardless of sex or gender identity.

…Meaning the ERA is older than:

In 2017, 2018, and 2020, Nevada, Illinois, and Virginia became the last states needed—and the first in over 40 years—to ratify the ERA. But the ERA’s ratification was blocked by the Trump Administration in 2020 and held up in litigation over an arbitrary deadline that Congress passed in 1978. But make no mistake: there can be no deadline for achieving our full constitutional gender equality.

Now, Congress has the opportunity to certify the ERA, and send it to the archivist to publish it as the 28th Amendment. That’s why we are calling on Congress to immediately advance the ratification and certification of the ERA to the U.S. Constitution. Discrimination is not up for debate! With Cori in Congress, we have someone fighting every day for the equality of all people, especially our most marginalized communities. Alongside her sister-in-service Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, Cori launched the first-ever Congressional Caucus for the Equal Rights Amendment – and she later introduced House Joint Resolution 82, urging the U.S. Archivist to publish the ERA as the 28th amendment it is.

Ultimately, the ERA will cement gender equality into our constitution and advance so many of the fundamental rights we are fighting for – like protecting abortion rights, ending the gender wage gap, furthering liberation for our queer and transgender communities, ensuring equal access to healthcare, voting rights access, and so much more…

Will you join Team Cori in demanding the ratification and certification of the ERA immediately?

Thank you,

Team Cori
