Guilty! On Friday, March 8, 2024, a New York City jury found Juan Orlando Hernández (JOH) guilty on three counts of drug trafficking and weapons charges. JOH now faces a minimum of 40 years in prison and is currently scheduled to be sentenced on June 26, 2024.
We join the Honduran people and organizations who celebrate this verdict but also say that the crimes of narcotics trafficking are only the tip of the iceberg of all the damage done to Honduras and its people since the 2009 coup. There has to be accountability for all the crimes and for all those responsible, including the United States and Canada.
The verdict in this trial is in, however our campaign continues to demand the U.S. and Canada be held to account for their role in supporting and propping up the criminal dictatorships since 2009 and their ongoing opposition to the necessary reforms and re-building of Honduras for its people.
Join us on Monday April 15th to hear about the outcomes of the trial, our campaign, and how you can join us to take action.
