Dear John,
I want to take a moment to write about what happened in Arizona this week. On Tuesday, the Arizona Supreme Court revived a law from 1864 that completely bans abortion in that state except when required to save the life of the mother. This Civil War-era law also criminalizes doctors for performing the procedure.
This is the reality of leaving abortion care ‘up to the states.’
I’ve said it before, and I’ll keep saying it: Women’s health care decisions should be made by women and their doctors – not politicians.
Roe v. Wade was established law in this country for decades. We must work to codify Roe into law before those seeking a federal abortion ban accomplish their goal.
Here's what else I was up to this week:
Bringing home $1.6 million to improve traffic safety in Cottage Grove
I secured $1.6 million to help improve traffic flow on the interchanges along U.S. Highway 61 in Cottage Grove.
I’ll keep working to make investments in safer infrastructure that better connects our communities and expands opportunities for local small businesses.
Pushing for year-round sale of E15
Bolstering domestic biofuels production supports family farmers and saves Minnesotans up to 30 cents a gallon at the pump.
I’m leading the bipartisan push to urge the Administration to expand the year-round sale of E15 and strengthen our energy independence.
Advocating for telehealth resources
Telehealth services are essential in expanding access to health care, especially for rural communities.
This week in Energy and Commerce, we held a hearing on the ways to strengthen telehealth services to ensure every Minnesotan can access the care they need.
Working to strengthen critical protections for the LGBTQ+ community
This week, I was able to welcome the Human Rights Campaign to my DC office!
We discussed how we can ensure all Minnesotans are safe in their own communities – and how we can work to pass the Equality Act into law.
Coming soon: A new access point to the Dakota County Veterans Memorial Greenway
More federal dollars are on their way to MN02!
I worked with Dakota County leadership to secure $1 million in federal funding to construct a new crossing on Trunk Highway 3 so more Minnesotans can safely access the Dakota County Veterans Greenway.
Behind the scenes with Rep. Craig:
Introducing Beth: an MN02 resident and an incredibly talented artist who designed this Rosie the Riveter Congressional Gold Medal! This week, Beth attended the unveiling of the Congressional Gold Medal with her design, and it was an honor to meet with her in my DC office and hear more about her work.
Check it out!
That’s the end of my update this week – thanks for reading along!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Until next time,
Angie Craig
Member of Congress
