Katie Porter here, and today I want to tell you about Derek Tran, a California Democrat who could really use your support.
Derek Tran is running for Congress in CA-45, an Orange County district currently held by an extreme MAGA Republican. Derek is an Army veteran, workers' rights attorney, City Commissioner, father of three young kids, and son of refugees. His parents fled the Communist regime in Vietnam to find justice, security, and opportunity in Southern California.
Derek's wife Michelle is a pharmacist, and together they run a local brick and mortar pharmacy. Everyday they see the challenges families face affording their prescriptions and other necessities. As a workers' rights attorney, Derek knows that Washington needs to step up and hold Big Pharma and other corporations accountable for making life difficult and expensive for working people. Like me, Derek is proudly rejecting all corporate PAC money.
CA-45 is rated “Lean Republican” by the Cook Political Report, but with enough grassroots support I know we can flip this district blue. Democrats only need to flip a handful of seats in order to take back the House majority, and this district could be one of the deciding few. President Biden won this seat by over 6% in 2020, so I know we can do it!
