Dear Friend, |
One of our clients says there is no such thing as “wolf trapping.” |
Rather, trapping is indiscriminate — wolf traps don’t just catch wolves. They capture, injure, and kill any unlucky animal that crosses their path. So, when Idaho tried to expand wolf trapping and snaring in grizzly bear habitat, we built a case to protect grizzlies, wolves, and the many other animals that become casualties of this brutal practice. |
We spent years in federal court, citing the unlawful threat wolf trapping poses to Endangered Species Act (ESA) protected grizzly bears. And we won. |
Friend, when we work together, we can take on — and win — even the most challenging cases defending vulnerable species and entire ecosystems. This Earth Month, we need everyone who can to claim our $2:$1 match to fight for our planet. |
|
The ESA is a bedrock environmental law that has saved 99% of listed species from extinction since its inception. It is the foundation of our grizzly bear advocacy and the reason for our victory in this latest case and so many others. |
But the grizzly bear’s ESA-protected status is threatened. Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana have petitioned the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to remove ESA protections from all the region’s grizzlies, including populations in and around Yellowstone and Glacier national parks. |
This is the polar opposite of what we should be doing while grizzlies are facing severe threats to their survival from climate change, increased roadbuilding in their habitat, and killing by humans. |
This is why we need Earthjustice. |
When hostile state governments endanger our nation’s wildlife... |
When corporations release toxic chemicals into our air and water... |
When the fossil fuel industry puts short-term profit over the future of life itself... |
Earthjustice is there to fight for what’s right, backed by hundreds of thousands of supporters like you. |
Please, don’t delay. Make your Earth Month gift today and triple your impact supporting the legal battles that will define our planet’s future. |
|
Thank you for making my work possible. It’s because of your generous donations that I’m able to use my legal expertise in service of wildlife, biodiversity, and the health of our planet each and every day. |
