“We wanted to bring together a comprehensive study looking at the impact of sanctions not only economically…but also from the perspective of different sectors of society, both those that benefit from sanctions, including those connected to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the supreme leader’s office, as well as those affected in adverse ways throughout the population,” co-author Narges Bajoghli, a professor at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, said.
