Democrat,

While we continue to stay home and follow the recommendations of Governor Phil Murphy and public health experts, many people are looking for ways to do more to help. This week, Governor Murphy announced an executive order to encourage residents to donate blood during this crisis to help patients in need. Donating blood is a great way to help, and you can read more about the order here.

It’s easy to forget with the Coronavirus pandemic continuing, but only one month ago Governor Murphy was facing surgery to remove a potentially cancerous mass on his kidney, the most significant health challenge of his life. That surgery was successful, and only a short time later the Governor was back on his feet directing our state’s response to Coronavirus. Governor Murphy has shown extraordinary leadership during this crisis, and NJ.com captured that well in this story published earlier this week about the Governor’s swift return to action.

For up to date information regarding new cases and directives regarding the Coronavirus, visit the state’s dedicated COVID-19 Information Hub or follow Governor Murphy’s official pages on social media.

The Democratic National Committee announced this week that this year’s Democratic National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin is being delayed due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The Convention is now scheduled to be held the week of August 17th.

NJDSC is working closely with DNC officials to get any updates or additional information on how Coronavirus will affect the event. We will provide updates whenever possible.

In order to make it through the Coronavirus pandemic, all layers of government must work together. I was glad to see Senate President Steve Sweeney and Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin stand with Governor Murphy this week to announce an agreement to delay both the tax filing deadline as well as the state budget fiscal year. Read more about these changes here.

Thank you,

Chairman John Currie
