Dear Neighbors,

It was another busy week in St. Paul as we debated and voted on several bills that came to the House Floor. As always, I appreciate your support and encourage you to reach out to me if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. My contact information can be found at the bottom of this newsletter.

On Tuesday the House unanimously approved (130-0) this year?s public safety policy bill. Unlike in years past, this year?s bill did not receive a single ?no? vote and included several bills authored by Republican members.

The bill contained all or parts of 27 corrections and public safety policy agency initiatives, bills adjusting predatory offender laws, supporting crime victims, and other miscellaneous public safety bills as well as corrections to previously passed bills.

It?s always good to see us come together and support legislation that will keep our communities and neighborhoods safe.

I expect a supplemental budget bill to come before us in the coming weeks that will likely be more controversial with the inclusion of several anti-2nd Amendment policies. Stay tuned for more on this if/when it makes its way to the House Floor.

We also saw the passage of an elections omnibus bill that makes several changes or tweaks to Minnesota?s election laws.

Minnesota has had a long history of bipartisan election bills, however, under one-party rule, Democrats have failed to include Republican voices in the elections bill and failed to hear a single Republican bill in committee in 2024.??

Historically, Governors have mandated that any election changes had to have the support of both parties. That all ended with Gov. Walz. Now, Democrats completely ignore Republican efforts to improve voter integrity and instead make it easier for individuals to commit voter fraud.
