Something tells us millions of Arizona voters are going to have a slightly different take on the matter, but a shout out to the Fox News brain trust for spelling out just how callous, indifferent, and wildly out of bounds the official GOP position is on the matter.

Trump and Mike Johnson push for redundant ban on non-citizens voting
The serially indicted cult leader and his MAGA minion speaker of the House are pushing a wholly unnecessary bill to ban non-citizens from voting, the latest step by Republicans to falsely claim migrants are coming to the country and casting ballots. Quick civics lesson for anyone who might've missed this in junior high: Voting when a person is not eligible — for instance if they lack US citizenship — is already illegal under federal law and obviously doesn't need to be redundantly banned. Furthermore, there is no evidence of widespread non-citizen voting, nor are there even many examples of individual instances of the practice, despite strenuous efforts by Republicans in some states to find such cases. None of that is stopping Trump or his enablers from kicking and screaming, of course, because they have a narrative to plant and pre-emptive election fraud grievances to air. For Donald, there are only two possible outcomes in November — he wins or he is robbed. His ego simply cannot fathom anything else, democracy be damned.

Conservative-packed Supreme Court may throw out hundreds of Jan. 6 convictions
Joseph Fischer, a police officer from North Cornwall Township Police Department in Pennsylvania, took part alongside thousands of other MAGA foot soldiers in Trump's failed insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021, after previously sending damning text messages threatening to harm members of Congress while disrupting certification of President Biden's electoral victory. Arrested shortly thereafter in February, Fischer has somehow managed to argue and appeal his case all the way to the Trump-packed Supreme Court, challenging the federal law that's been used to convict hundreds of Fischer's fellow rioters. Should the radical right-wing justices side with Fischer's bullshit claims, it could call into question hundreds of previous convictions against insurrectionists who violently attacked police, stormed the Capitol, and tried to overthrow American democracy all at Trump's direction. What a world.

The chair of the Senate Banking Committee, Sen. Sherrod Brown, urged President Biden to ban imports of Chinese-made electric cars to the US, calling them "an existential threat to the American auto industry." His comments are the strongest yet by any US lawmaker on the issue, while others have called for steep tariffs to keep Chinese electric vehicles out of the country. "We cannot allow China to bring its government-backed cheating to the American auto industry," the Ohio Democrat said. is seeking to win a fourth term in office in November's election in a state that has banked right in the last several statewide elections.
