Dear John,

Earth Day is an opportunity for us to draw the undeniable connection between the anti-war and climate justice movements. Israel has long destroyed the natural environment of Palestine while parading its so-called green initiatives, such as depriving Palestinians of water while claiming to “pioneer” water conservation. This is a propaganda tactic to advance its settler colonial project called greenwashing. In the same way, members of the US Congress greenwash when they sit on environmental committees but refuse to even discuss the devastating environmental impact of weapons and war.

👉 And Facebook! <[link removed]>

Greenwashing inhibits us from making true environmental progress because it grants all the credibility to someone posing as an environmental advocate without them having to do any of the work. Earth Day is the time for us to demand a higher standard of Congress by demanding Gaza be treated as the urgent global environmental crisis it is. Share the petition on Twitter <[link removed]> and Facebook <[link removed]> to maximize your impact!

Let me break this down for you.

We’ve been witnessing Israel commit genocide in Palestine for six months <[link removed]>, with the US consistently providing weapons throughout. During this time, the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) murdered 15K+ children. They raided hospitals, murdering healthcare workers, patients, and sheltering civilians. They carried out targeted attacks on international aid workers. They brutally abused Palestinian civilians they detained, including sexual abuse. The IOF left piles of Palestinian bodies behind after they withdrew from Khan Younis. Now, Netanyahu insists there is a date set for a ground invasion of Rafah, where over 1.5 million Palestinians are displaced.

US officials understand the extent of Israel’s genocide campaign yet the government continues to arm Israel, sending bombs to murder Gazans as recently as the end of last month. We can't wait around for them to act morally. We must force accountability at every opportunity.

Last week, we shared a petition to tell Congress: War is not green! <[link removed]> This week, we need to push that message even further, to as many people as we can possibly reach. Let’s show Congress once again that we’ll show up in large numbers to remind them of Gaza on every occasion!
