DPD needs to move from 3,000 to 4,000 police officers ASAP.

Dallas: where criminals thrive and businesses leave. Crime gets worse;
Dallas City Council does nothing.

Hiring Goal for DPD Underwater

High crime in Dallas is driving business leaders out and city leaders
want you to believe they are working overtime to fix the crime crisis in
Dallas; but that is far from the truth.

On April 9th, the Public Safety Committee briefing on the state of the
Dallas Police Department’s (DPD) hiring goal painted a less-than-stellar
picture of the Department’s ability to attract new hires. Chronic
understaffing in our city has already begun to spell disaster for our
long-term and short-term crime trends.

Data shows, for a city the size of Dallas, DPD needs around 4,000 active
officers to police the city properly. Dallas has been short of this goal
by approximately 1,000 officers for years. This year, DPD attempted to
alleviate the issue by setting a hiring goal of only 250 officers.
However, we are over four months into the year, and have only 83
recruits on track to enter the academy.

Dallas City Council must change the culture of high crime in the city. A
great start is to fully fund the Police Department to reach its hiring
goal, and make the department more attractive to recruits. Contact your
City Council Member today and tell them to act NOW to address our city's
culture of crime! Click below to find your city council member.

New details have emerged about a murder that occurred last week. The
victim has been identified as the suspect's stepfather. Dallas’s culture
of crime has deteriorated so strongly that families are tearing
themselves apart. High crime is anti-family!

The Truth Behind Dallas Sex Trafficking Data

The City of Dallas has become a hub for human trafficking. Being located
at the intersection of the busiest highways in the country and throw in
our District Attorney's soft-on-crime policies, it's no wonder that
criminals see it as the perfect area to set up shop. Dallas can flip the
narrative and end the human trafficking crisis in the city; but only
when our City Council musters the courage to do what is right!

Another Deadly Argument, Dallas Man Arrested

Every weekend, without fail, there is a deadly shooting that takes place
in Dallas. This story is yet another incident of an argument turned
deadly. Crime is getting worse, and our City Council is doing nothing.
City Council must give DPD the bandwidth to stop these crimes!

Tracking Illegal Camps:

[link removed] Executive Director Joseph Porter broadcasts
on Facebook Live each week, documenting vagrant camps in the city and
bringing you real-time updates on the state of homelessness and the
apathetic response from Dallas city officials. This week, Joseph went
live from City Hall after the Public Safety Committee meeting to discuss
DPD missing the mark with its hiring goal.

 District 2 Councilman Jesse Moreno

"Urban Ruins Camp"

This camp in Jesse Moreno’s District 2 has been dubbed “Oak Lawn Camp.”
Hidden underneath an overpass, this camp is difficult to spot.
Seemingly, one of the local panhandlers has made it their home. A creek
runs nearby filled with garbage from highway litter and whatever
vagrants discard. This could potentially be a visitor’s first
interaction with Dallas. Do we want this to be their first impression?

  District 11 Councilwoman Jaynie Schultz

"Northern Expressway Camp"

This camp in Jaynie Schultz’s District 11 has earned the title “Northern
Expressway Camp.” This camp is yet another example of vagrants stealing
spaces in underpasses. The areas that they inhabit always become dirty
and dangerous. City Council members must stop enabling the stealing of
public space for vagrant usage. Allowing people to live like this is not
a compassionate solution!

 District 7 Councilman Adam Bazaldua

"Hillcrest Utopia Camp"

We named this camp in Adam Bazaldua’s District 7, “Hillcrest Utopia
Camp.” This camp is found in South Dallas and is consistently one of the
worst, most brazen violations of the City’s urban camping ban. This camp
is never cleaned up or patrolled. There are consistently around 30-40
vagrants who live here. It has become an illusioned utopian area for
them, and we will continue to monitor the area.

Statement:

Keep Dallas Safe exists to address crime and homelessness in Dallas with
the goal of transforming Dallas into the safest large city in Texas for
residents and businesses. We aim to have a City Council that prioritizes
crime rate which directly determines the quality of life in Dallas. We
do this by fighting against the "defund the police" movement, holding
accountable our city leaders' efforts towards lowering district crime
rates, and highlighting our city's homelessness problems by pushing for
enforcement of the prohibition of urban camping.
